German Coast Guard

I just had to put this one on I suppose because I have some affinity to it being English and living in Spain.

Dead Deer

Well this is a test really as Google are now pushing videos so it will be interesting to see how it works on this blog. Just as an introduction the video is about a dead Deer, say no more!!!

Managed to get out and go fo a run

I thought I better let you all know I have managed to get out running again and managed to do my 55 min run today. All seems fine a little tired and the Achilles seems to have held up fine, so that is two days, which is a good sign. I shall air on the side of caution and go for a run the day after, as I am a little stiff. I must admit I was surprised that I am really getting back into running again and I am even considering getting on the Athletics track again, particularly as it is at the bottom of our road no excesses really but I do get the feeling it is calling me. We shall see!!

Achilles Tendonitis, oh Great!!

Well it didn't take long it looks as though I have now managed to pick up a running injury.

The problem with running is you try so hard to get fit and when you get a niggle and in my case this time it is the Achilles Tendon. You think it is nothing just one of those strains after a race, and you then say to yourself don't be a whimp and not train get out there and push some more!!

Great idea as a result I'm now in more pain and I have picked up Achilles Tendonitis, lets hope I have spotted it soon enough and I only need to have a couple of days off running, then start slowly and avoid the hills as this is probably what inflamed the injury

And to finish a great view of the Alhambra Palace Granada Posted by Picasa

Me at the end of the Lisbon half marathon

Lisbon Half Marathon, I think that this picture would put anyone off running. The condition I finished in is not surprising when you consider this is after only one month of training Posted by Picasa

Now this is getting easier, this is a painting by my best mate from school John Railton. He has a lot to answer for not only that he introduced me to Conchi but would you believe it he ended up being my Brother In Law. Posted by Picasa

Just to see what happens when I do it this way Posted by Picasa

Saturday 11th Feb 2006

Just wanted to put today's run onto the diary while I remember. Managed to do the run to the Ski Equipment shop and back in 1hr and 1min. Another improvement again.

Just as an aside I thought I would mention the weather again, it is getting arm and as a result I felt it during the run. Summer I think is on the way and I will be complaining about the heat, on  that point I will really need to think about getting up early to run, now that will be hard!!

While I wait to load the Photos

Well it isn’t going too well with this Blog due to the IT issues, which at times seems to be every day. Anyway the plan was to build the story from when I arrived in Granada from England which incidentally was the 20th Of December 2005 and to post some photos, well that will now have to be some other day when the IT is back to normal.

Well I am pleased to say that life here is beginning to come together, although I was a little nervous at first what with the decision to leave Star Medical and work with this Multi Millionaire in Gibraltar, particularly as we are building this company from scratch, therefore it has been a tough year.

I know I have said this a few times that it is now beginning to come together, well I think it is getting closer the difference is we have now recruited a consultant to help me, so now we have a team of 5. I must admit trying to do this on my own has been very difficult to say the least, but now I think we have a chance.

On this point I should let you know which market we have decided to specialise in. I know it maybe hard to believe considering my previous experience but never the less welder’s fabricators and CNC people it is, a far cry from Medical Sales Representatives. Now the good news is and by sheer luck we have started working with companies who build and repair ships and for those who know me know this is my passion.

On a completely different point and as I am using this as a diary also, I am pleased to say I have done another run today and ran for just under an hour. It was tough, particularly as it was very warm and for you in the UK I was only wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

Not how I remember running around Style Woods!

Coming to Granada

This Blog is my diary on my new life in Granada, but more importantly a way of keeping freinds and family informed on what we are up toeven though we are in another country. So I think I shall start from the beginning on how we have ended up in Granada Spain. For those who are unaware Granada has always been my second home since I married Conchi 18 years ago. Every year sice we have spent our holidays here so that Conchi can be with her family and Conchita and Africa get to keep their Spanish up to date. I must admit it has always been my plan to finish mylife in Granada Isuppose because Ilove it here so much, but like with anyting you never quite know how your life will end up and where fate will take you. All was going fine in the UK all be it tough and complicated at times but as luck would have it an opportunity arouse were I could emigrate to Spain while keeping my job in the UK. At this point I must say thanks to Tim Webster (Star Medical) for without his support this would never have happened. Although this isn't the first time I have emigrated to Spain, but this time I am confident it will be for good, although I am sure my parents will be disappointed! I must admit though the hardest thing about leaving England was our friends and family and over the years I must admit we had some of the best friends you could ever have. Fortunately if it wasnt for the advances in technology in particular the recent development of the Internet and Broadband this would have been impossible. In particular a little piece of free software from skype has made it all possible, because without their technology the cost of calling the UK would be prohibitive, in addition I have a UK telephone number which means there is also no excuse for any one to call me. Incidentally you may be interested to know that for me to call the UK I pay just £0.012 a minute, cheaper than if I was in the UK. In addition it is free if you call skype to skype. But if you do not have skype, then you can call me on 0161 408 0505 which rings me direct to the computer and if the computer is switched off it redirects to my mobile, it couldn't be easier!
