Media Maraton Granada 2006
Well I managed to finish the half marathon in Granada and again it was tough I am just can not handle anything over 800 meters. Still I did manage to finish and this time for the first time I started and finished without stopping. The time was a poor 1 hour 58 minutes but I have struggled to train this summer with varrious injuries. The photo's are by a new programme by Google/Picassa where you can post an album, a nice idea.

Granada Marathon and Notes In Spanish
Well I know it has been some time since I wrote something here but I did warn you all that it may be a while, partly because my other blog for recruitment www.recruitment-views.com takes up most of my spare time these days.
So just to keep you up dated summer feels as though it is finally over with the first rains this week, saying that it is still relatively warm. I hope it stays cool for Sunday as I will be doing the Granada half marathon. To be honest I am nervous as last Sunday I had a good run for over an hour and a half but yesterday, I did a shorter run for an hour and it was very labored so lets see what state I finish in.
Also I went with Rocket Spanish in the end but after a week I knew it wasn't for me, there was nothing wrong with the course it was just that it is from beginners so it just didn't keep my attention. Also I was impressed with the speed they refunded my payment you just never know these days. Afterwards I came across www.notesinspanish.com which is excellent and free, always a positive. More importantly their discussions are interesting and I do feel an affinity with Ben as he is also married to a Spaniard Marina with some of the banter I can relate to.
Also I haven't taken too many photos recently but last week we went to a wedding of a work colleague of Conchi's, we had a great time, and for me I actually had a decent conversation with a few of the non English speaking guests.
Fingers crossed I will have a decent pic of me in the Marathon..

Trying to make the decision between Rocket Spanish, Linguaphone and Rosetta Stone
Well nearly two years later my Spanish hasn't improved, well maybe slightly! So today it is about time I got to grips and started to study. Although I can speak Spanish I really need to take the next step and most courses only cater for the beginner and I need to become fluent.
Trying to find the best online course is so difficult, and when you then take into account the price, you just do not want to make a mistake. What has made it particularly difficult is I cannot find honest reviews of the products.
I have decided to go with Rocket Spanish as I couldn't find anything negative on the net, which is a good sign as if anyone was upset, someone generally writes about it somewhere. The only worry I have is all the positive comments, are because they are selling the product.
The main competition or my other choices are Linguaphone, which to be honest didn't work for me after using it for 20 years and Rosetta Stone, which I nearly went with today but apart from all the positive notes or advertising spiel, I read many negatives so I have decided not to run with them either.
So in case anyone else is trying to make the decision between Rocket Spanish, Linguaphone and Rosetta Stone I hope to be able to give some honest feed back but it will be 3 months later I assume.
Before I sign off, I did receive my free lesson today from Rocket Spanish and my first impression is good, but at the end of the day it will be up to me.

A day on Pedro's Boat
Yesterday it was our 18th Wedding anniversary and we were invited to the beach by Pedro, Conchi's brother for a play on his boat.
We had a good time as can be seen by the video, although short it wasn't the easiest picture to take with the camera without falling over.

A test with a nice picture
Recently I have been keen to promote online storage as a means of keeping your data safe from viruses or complete computer crashes. As a result I came across www.box.net which is ideal and as a test I have uploaded this photo of Conchi and I. Also it is important to note that the litttle boy on Conchis lap isnt mine but Fernando the son of Alfonso Conchis Uncle, mind you the blonde hair has thrown a few of the realitives!

A Blog update thanks to Diane
Well I cannot believe it has been so long since I wrote here, almost 3 months now. So with inspiration from Diane, (Thanks Diane if you happen to catch this post) I have finally the motivation to make a few changes.
The key thing to note here is I have added feedblitz, you will see it on the right so if you enter your email you will get updates automatically by email, saves you the hassle of just looking and being disappointed. Now you will get an email each time I update, so based on my previous efforts you will not get too many.
Secondly I have now sorted the flickr logo on the right so you can see any photos I have uploaded, I intend to use this more in the future...hmm he says!
Thirdly a really cool feature for those who have messenger or the likes I have installed meebo, a cool devise for you to contact me if you just happen to be passing not sure how it works so if I am on say Hi.
I think that covers every thing for now but my next post I will go into what has been happening in my life, I hope you will not get to bored.
